The Fall Cookbook
Fall’s “Cookbook” is here — your seasonal style guide featuring wardrobe staples, cozy layers, and statement pieces. Consider this the recipe for a Chic, Conscious Consumer Fall.
As Lead Chef of Consumer Digest, I figured it was time to turn the heat up in the kitchen. So, I’m taking our monthly Menus to the next level with a new concept: The Cookbook Series — a seasonal roadmap to everything Chic, Conscious Consumers are LOVING.
Think of it as your style-meets-lifestyle tasting menu, where each edition breaks down the Pantry Staples, Main Courses, Side Dishes, and Desserts of the season. It’s basically a Fall Lookbook, but with more flavor — curated like a recipe for fashion & beauty.
Today, we’re starting with the Pantry Staples— the essentials you need for any “recipe.” These are your foundational pieces: timeless, versatile, and effortlessly chic. We’re treating your closet like your pantry focusing on what’s in season, what’s functional, and most importantly, what feels true to your taste.

Mise en Place
Mise en Place:a French culinary phrase which means “putting in place” or “gather”. It refers to the setup required before cooking. The base ingredients to any outfit are our Mise en Place.
I first heard about this top on Tiktok from Ida, who gives the best recommendation on the app (get excited because her Menu is coming soon!) This is the best top for fall, it’s thin but still cashmere and warm. It’s slightly see though, giving more texture and dimension than your regular top.
Their Straight Neck Sleeveless Top is phenomenal. I also reach for the Cute Knit, which reminds me of Charlotte York for some reason.
Denim for Dinner
Barrel jeans have lost a bit of admiration as they’ve become more popular, so if they’re not for you replace with a loose fit instead. I’m a huge fan of Still Here’s Cool Jean, a loose fitting jean with an adjustable waist band… a rare find. If you’re down for the Barrel, I love the options Free People has! dl1969 has some great ones like this and these (which I have in a Dark Wash)
The Perfect Pairing: Sets
The Orseund Iris Weekend Knit Cardigan and bottom have kept me nourished for nearly 5 Autumns. Helsa consistently serves a good set and has similar top in a few colors. Here’s an Aritzia version and one from a brand called Sandy’s (which I’m admittedly trying not to buy.)
I also stay in this Arakki set and look forwards to pulling it out the second I feel a brisk wind or see a leaf fall.
5. Garnish: The Scarf
Fall and Scarves are synonyms but, the way you wear the scarf can make it different than the standard Fall Uniform. The Chic, Conscious Consumers of the internet are loving Kujten. The French brand makes the scarves of the season and I am drooling over this Leather Fringe one. They also have these Astrology Scarves, that look like a bandana pattern at first glance but become more personal with a longer look.
I’m also obsessed with the Suzi Kondi options, like this large shawl! As a member of the itsy-bitsy ear community this headscarf is also calling my name.
ANNDD… that was the first page of The Consumer Digest Fall Cookbook. Next we’ll go over The Entrees, Sides and Desserts!
Until next season’s serving, thanks for digesting with me!
