Your Starter

We’ll start with something quite random… Have you ever heard of a scented terracotta pomegranate? Well now you have! Since January the scent in the background of my life has been Santa Maria Novella’s Melograno. I got the perfume, body wash, lotion, candle, body oil… it is just that good! In their store they have these clay looking pomegranate sculptures that are so magnetic and chicly suspicious. They’re supposed to act as a candle replacement, scenting your room 24/7, without being lit.

After a few months I decided to grab one, within an hour of opening it the whole apartment was filled with the floral, spicy citrus pomegranate scent. I was shocked by how far the scent bubble traveled and the omnipresence of one of my favorite smells in the house. Like I said before Melograno has become THE background to 2026 for me!

Main Courses

Throughout 2025 I became less interested in new beauty releases or what’s trending at Sephora or any of the beauty frenzy we’ve constantly been inundated with. So it’s been a minute since I’ve been drawn to a new release. However Rhode dropped a spring collection and I wont lie the blushes got me! I was eager for the drop date and ended up snagging The Pocket Blush in Tea Cup, the Peptide Lip Boost Plumping Mask and the Caffeine mask. Which was more than I planned on, as I had sworn off buying Rhode lip products because of the graininess. I can say without a shadow of a doubt this mask is divine, no weird texture, just a thick jelly coat of hydration that lasts hours! I apply before bed and it still has some juice when I wake up.

The Blush is also the perfect shade for me, very easy to use without other makeup, but still enough pigment to keep its integrity when worn with a full beat!

*March was a GREAT shoe month!

For sport enthusiasts March Madness was about brackets and the Boozer Twins, for their fashion companions March Madness was all about Matthieu Blazy. Personally, my ministry lies with the latter.

While looking for my mom like a lost toddler at the Bloomingdales in Century City, I came across the Chanel shoe section. Whenever I find myself in these kinds of mausoleums (places where it would be dangerously easy to bury my credit card) I make a habit of asking to see everything I like. Mostly because 10 times out of 9, they wont have my size.

My calculations didn’t account for Mattheiu Math, by the luck of the draw they had the pair of loafers I had been looking for for almost a year. Furthermore… they were receiving Blazy’s shoe collection the following day and happened to have my size! So I grabbed a pair of black pumps with a turquoise accent on the toe as well. And I have worn both non stop since! As for the loafers they are the perfect everyday shoes, I can wear them with nearly anything, and they’re a much elevated option for when I’m due for a pedicure and want something sharper than my typical Birkenstocks.

Desserts

Last month I served you Elle’s Menu! A menu complete with book and beauty recommendations but also a wonderful bedroom companion. I am of course talking about a squishmallow. My little sister and cousins have a ton of these, I was never really interested in them. To be honest I was never a stuffed animal kind of kid, so there was nothing drawing me to one. However post Hip Surgery I have slept cuddling a pillow between my legs every night and I discovered that I quite like holding something in my sleep. So a space opened for a stuffed animal and I cannot lie, I miss my Pancake Squishmallow when I travel!

If you’ve seen or read or heard me talk about make up, it’s likely you’ve heard about my love for Charlotte Tilbury’s Plumpgasm Lip Gloss, which is the perfect shade of mauvy pinky brown, smells like Delizia di Marshmallow and moisturizes my lips like its a lip ointment. My one qualm is the tingliness of it, particularly in cold weather where the tingliness can feel nearly numbing, like putting icy hot on and then taking an ice bath. To be clear this is the case with any plumping gloss.

I saw Dr.Ewoma use these Tom Ford Lipglosses and the colors piqued my interest, I went to a few Tom Ford stores and Duty Free Airport shops and couldn’t find them, but on a casual trip to Sephora they finally appeared! I picked up the shade West Coast, which is nearly identical to my beloved CT (and the Bedouin’s Daughter one I mentioned in February’s Menu!) It has the same feel as the Charlotte Tilbury without the tingle, making it a bit easier to use at all times.

I’ve also been reaching for the MPH Beauty Lip Ciggy lately. I was gifted a few shades, but I keep coming back to Crush and Slow Burn. They’re perfect for softening and blending lip liner into my natural lip color because opaque lipsticks tend to cover everything up, but these let it all melt together seamlessly.

I also love how versatile the shades are: one leans pinky-orange while the other is a deeper berry, so they subtly shift the tone of whatever gloss I layer on top. It makes it easy to tailor the final look to match my makeup or outfit

Elle is an avid reader and writer, and she runs a book club called Dwelle Literature that hosts virtual and in-person events in NYC!

Elle is one of my favorite travel companions—we’ve been to France, Finland, Morocco, and Italy together. Many of these places share one unfortunate flaw: they lack something we both love—Iced Coffee. So naturally, she reminds me of that perfect iced coffee you finally get right after multiple orders, countless café visits, and plenty of trial and error. Elle is like your favorite glass of iced coffee: sweet and energizing, without the jitters.

What is your favorite restaurant?

Mezzaluna on the Upper East Side is one of my favorite Italian restaurants. The seafood pasta is divine, and the whole atmosphere in the restaurant is so warm. I'm also obsessed with 5H in London. The decor, the food, the vibes —all of it is spectacular—one day, I WILL host my birthday party there

Describe yourself in 3 words: Inquisitive, Intuitive, Imaginative

Describe yourself or what you do using references from movies,characters, TV shows, or songs.

Right now, I’m in my Rory Gilmore from season 7 of Gilmore Girls era—AKA navigating life after grad school and starting my first big-girl job. By the end of the show, Rory is excited to begin her career, but she’s also nervous about what it means to enter a new chapter far away from home. I deeply relate to that feeling of in-betweenness: knowing something needs to change, but not being totally sure which step to take.

But since my first job is in the art world, I also feel like I’m entering my Charlotte York era. Call me an Upper East Side princess!

Describe your “digital diet”

I am constantly reading, but 9 times out of 10 it's a physical book. My Master's degree trained me to appreciate and consume physical media. My favorite genre is literary fiction, but I also branch out sometimes to romance, thriller, and fantasy.

If we're talking strictly digital, I wake up every morning eager for the Substack, Pinterest, Spotify trifecta. On Substack, I enjoy reading writers Jordan Risa and Jack Edwards. On Spotify, I'm usually listening to classical music. Right now, I have Jon Batiste's Beethoven Blues album on repeat. I love scrolling through my Pinterest homepage; it gives me so much inspiration in a format that doesn't overwhelm me like Instagram.

If you had to choose your “big three” based on your favorite media, brands or products what would your Sun,Moon and Rising be?

At my core, I love the slow moments. I love interiority, introspection, and independence. A perfect afternoon for me is lying on the couch, with a book, surrounded by beautiful art and fresh flowers. I love how in this painting, the figure feels comfortable enough in her space to be naked, by herself, and utterly unbothered. It feels just like me, aside from the cigarette.

Moon = Daniel Ceasar’s Freudian Album
I’m technically a Leo moon, but my Pisces sun and rising really dominate my life. I am quite emotional, sensitive, and imaginative. The Freudian album immediately makes me feel calm, creative, and dreamy. From the piano ballad in Blessed, the ethereal harmonies in Best Part, and the sharp guitar in Hold Me Down, the album sums up my heart.

I try my best to come off as bubbly and kind. My coffee-bean jellycat instantly brings me joy; I love his little smile, his wide eyes, his softness, and that he’s brown. I’d like to think that we’re both approachable and eager to share positive energy.

1. The Elemis Cleansing Balm to take off my makeup. It's pricey, but so worth it. I went through 5 or 6 tubs in 2025.
2. Dr. Bronner's unscented body wash is my holy grail because I have extremely sensitive skin and try to stay away from heavily fragranced body products.
3. Cerave Hydrating Foaming Oil Cleanser; it's clean, reliable, and safe for acne-prone girlies.
4. The Nudist Body Scrub by Mutha is perfection, and the definition of self-care.

Open Water by Caleb Azumah Nelson absolutely blew my mind. It's a stunning love story set in London, more like poetry than prose. I can't stop thinking about it!

I'm enjoying Emma Grede's podcast Aspire. Her episode with Reese Witherspoon was very well done and motivated me in a way I didn't see coming.

What’s your favorite song? or song lyrics?

We Find Love by Daniel Caesar. Freudian is my all-time favorite album, seriously, no skips. If I had to pick one song from that album, it'd be We Find Love because it takes me back to one of the best months/years of my young adult life.

What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received?

A couple of months ago, my boyfriend's friend (now my friend) told me I looked like someone who would be reading Oscar Wilde at a midnight library. We had never met before, and he said it in such a genuine, "you look like you don't belong at the club" manner. It was the absolute highlight of my month!

What are your favorite serums, body lotions etc.?

Slather Exfoliating Body Serum by Topicals. This formula has done wonders for my textured skin. - Josie Maran Vanilla Vibes Body Butter: the scent is perfectly subtle and sweet, and the thickness is to die for. I caved and bought the 13.5oz refill size, and it’s been a great investment.

What’s your most worn fashion piece?

My Cartier Tank Watch. My dad gave it to me for my high school graduation. It's engraved on the back, and it's one of my most beloved items.

Spaghetti Alla Vongole, salty chips with fresh guacamole, a Krispy Kreme pumpkin spice donut, and a coke zero over ice with a glass straw.

What’s a perspective you’ve had that has completely changed overtime?

I used to see things as black or white, good or bad, but as I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized that much of life lies in the grey areas, in between the good and bad, and that is ok!

What was your favorite item of clothing as a child?

A tiara... duh #princesselle. And my mermaid tail #thebrownmermaid

What is our favorite quote?

“It is written” from The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. It signifies fate, destiny, and that we are all part of something bigger. I find it comforting to consider that some things are just meant to be.

The Summer Fridays lip butter balm is gonna do it for me every time. My favorite flavor is Vanilla. My favorite candle is No.05 Kandilli from Maison Louie Marie, I burn through it so quickly.

What is your favorite dessert or midnight snack?

Trader Joe's gluten-free double chocolate muffins-- INSANE. My go-to midnight snack is the Caulipower crust pizza: it's gluten-free and hits the spot.

What’s your favorite thing on your nightstand?

My Hatch alarm clock!!! I named her "Bunny".

If you had to curate the guest list for the ultimate “Chic,Conscious Consumer” gathering, who are your three must-invites?

1. Queen Charlotte from the Bridgerton series. I am obsessed with her maximalist mindset, and I'll never forget her iconic tiara in the afro moment.
2. Laura Harrier, because she makes minimalism look SO chic. Plus, people tell me she's my celebrity look-alike.
3. John Dutton from Yellowstone. He's obviously not known for his wardrobe, but if you've watched the show, then you know EXACTLY what he'd wear. I want to channel that kind of legacy with my clothes. I'm also planning to build a Western wardrobe in 2026.

4. BONUS-- the Dennis sisters. Sophia and Rechelle are my favorite sister duo whose closets (notably their handbag collection) and minds constantly inspire me.

“Don’t take criticism from people you wouldn’t take advice from.” People are so quick to critique and give out “advice” these days, but you should really only listen to critiques from those you truly admire.

1. Etsy Glasses Case

   I always say if I had to change one thing about myself it would be my vision, like I cannot see without glasses or contacts. The only benefit to bad vision is the excuse to accessorize with glasses and even sometimes, if you’re crazy like me, a glasses case. I found this one on Etsy that is quite stellar, it holds 2 glasses, so I can travel with optical and lunettes but only need one case… perfect!

3. Exile On Mainstream

The onset of spring showers is always accompanied by Matchbox Twenty’s Exile on Mainstream. This is truly a perfect album and has been in my ears for almost all of my life. This is an album that’s somewhat emotionally all over the place and quite grey in all shades and tones, perfect for spring and all its showers…

4. Solomans

I picked up a pair of Solomans in London last month. The back to back blizzards have put a wrench in my shoe selection process. I’ve been a bit lazy this year and put off grabbing my true winter shoes from storage, so it’s really just been Uggs or rain boots… neither are great options. I’ve also noticed that most of my sneakers are in fact not waterproof, so a few wet socks and cold toes and slippery situations lead to wearing my Solomons non stop.

5. Suzi Kondi Terry Cloth Sets

In 2023 I declared that the relationship between me and sweatpants had expired. Since then I’ve been on a mission to find clothes that mimic that comfort but don’t compromise on look. These Terry Cloth Suzi Kondi have not gotten a break all month and funnily enough they were ordered in the wrong size and regifted to me!

6. Moment of the Month: Coach Creative Offsite

I was mid 7am workout when my dear friend Ziad called me, quickly asking if I’d be available the next week for an exciting creative offsite with Coach. Was I free? No, I had plans to go to LA in a few days. Did I say I was free? Absolutely, LA will always be there, so I promptly canceled my flight and within a few days I was in a van on the way to Wildflower Farms.

I’m a very confident person, so when I say this, do not in any way shape or form take this as self deprecating. I felt like the least qualified person in the room, but in the best way possible – I was surrounded by people who were so entangled in Gen-Z culture. I’m talking people involved in the biggest campaigns, album roll-outs,strategies the list goes on and on. It’s very rare that you can be in a space of experts all learning from one another, a space of 30 people excited to lend their expertise to a larger idea or goal. This was a refreshing and honoring trip to be part of. I left feeling incredibly connected to this group of people, most of which I had only met 24 hours before.

7. Coach Tabby Bag

Naturally a gift went along with the trip, Coach kindly gifted me this stunning Tabby in the shade Peony. I’m not sure what they call this leather finish, but in the Hermès world, it is box leather. This has become my favorite leather finish, it holds up so well over the years and just has an incredible chic and sleek essence to it. The Peony color on this Tabby is absolutely fab, it goes with everything, it has a rosy brown undertone, making it colorful yet subtle. I also added my rainbow bead chain and they just look like they were meant to be together!

8. February’s Book Menu

This month, I’ve been reading The Secret of Scent, which is a deep dive into the fragrance industry through the lens of perfume aficionado Luca Turin. Turin uses the extravagant fantasy world of fragrance to explain its underlying science and art. At times it feels a bit too science-heavy, but the fact that it’s connected to perfume has made it much easier to get through than most high school science classes.

9. Woak Concealer Pencil

Carving out brows can be a bit tricky with liquid concealer or even crayon. The lines I make often blend into my brows, rather than staying in place and highlighting my brow bone. I did a quick little search for a “concealer pencil” (emphasis on pencil and not crayon) to find something as exacting as a lip liner to highlight with precision. It resulted in an Amazon link for the Woak Stealth Fighter pen, which is actually marketed as a concealer for men, strangely enough. Anywho, this has solved my brow blending problem. I also love to add this to accentuate my eye shape and highlight the bridge of my nose. Here is a similar and I assume better version from Lisa Eldridge!

10. Melograno Body Wash & Body Lotion

Santa Maria Novella’s Melograno perfume was on January’s menu, of course. I still have an olfactory obsession with it—I just can’t seem to let it rest. A previous Guest Chef and “Chic, Conscious Consumer,” Taylor, mentioned their body care line in her Menu so I knew I needed it when I picked up the perfume. Since opening it, this set has made me dream of showering all day long and has become quite the nightly shower ritual.

Quote of the month:

I overheard one of my coworkers say something along the lines of “if you only care when it affects you, then you don’t actually care”. I immediately wrote it down, and of course can’t remember where, but it stuck with me. It is so applicable to what’s going on in the world. Particularly the choices people make, both those in power and those who put them in power. The “First They Came” poem by Martin Niemöller has been at the forefront of my mind since I first read it in Middle School, but especially for the past year and half. I don’t think many would argue that this isn’t a simple yet deeply effective poem that challenges new aged individualism and I felt that the quote I randomly overheard did the same.

Describe your “digital diet”

My digital diet is really important to me. Even though I spend a lot of time on my phone for work and creativity, I love stepping away from it. When I feel mentally drained or notice that I’m consuming more than creating, I take a break, put my phone down, go for a walk, explore somewhere new, enjoy nature, or engage with people around me. It’s a reminder that life still exists in the real world. I consciously separate social media from the real world. Social media is exciting it has its own language, trends, and my favorite creators, but the real world is always there and sacred. Going on a digital diet helps me enjoy what I like on my own time and remember not everything has to be shared.

Sun: Spotify – There’s always something new to discover, from music to podcasts, and I bring that same energy in my personality different sides and vibes depending on the moment or who I'm interacting with. It'll always change the more you know me.
Moon: Pinterest it's not fast-moving like other social medias.It allows you to slow down, reflect, and absorb content that resonates emotionally or lets you dream. I'm a very emotional, feel deeply, everything has meaning kind of person. So just like everything you save or curate on Pinterest its like my emotions it all has meaning and a reason behind why I like it or why I feel it. I also dream a lot about my dream life where I want to go, the person I want to be, outfits, everything.
Rising: Rhode – Creative, innovative, modern. I present myself as someone who’s ahead of the curve, stylish, and always exploring new ideas.

What makes me feel chic is my fashion sense and the way I capture everything visually. I’m very visual so it helps I’m a content creator who captures through photos, poses, or videos, I always aim for a look that’s sophisticated and eye-catching. A great outfit makes me feel confident and connected to the woman I aspire to be it’s a way of stepping closer to that version of myself. I love a NYC 80s style with suits, structure, pinstripes, pencil skirts. Tones like navy, brown, and grey. Very business-woman–esque.

Prepping your skin before makeup is a game-changer. Your makeup goes on smoothly, looks even, and never appears dry or cakey.

The Fresh Soy Face Cleanser is hands down the best cleanser I’ve tried it leaves my skin feeling clean and refreshed. For the body, I reach for Dove Hydration Boost for Dry Skin you barely need lotion afterward. I’m obsessed with the Junoco Body Serum it’s from a smaller brand, but the quality is incredible, and I’m already on my second bottle because it smells so luxurious. For anyone with strawberry skin, Remedy Skincare for body bumps lotion works wonders, and I love finishing with the Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Body Badalada Lotion for lightweight hydration and that staple Cheirosa 62 scent.

When it comes to Substack, I’ve always enjoyed supporting independent journalists. Early on, I loved reading political news, especially from Lisa Remillard’s Facts HQ she’s a breath of fresh air with fact-checking and real-time breaking news, and I’ve followed her since the quarantine days on TikTok. I also read Bari Weiss’s The Free Press and Culture fries, which is basically an intersection of politics and pop culture that’s fun and engaging. Supporting independent journalists feels so important in today’s media climate, especially since they often bring fresh voices and perspectives that legacy outlets do not. Support independent journalists! Lately, I’ve been loving more fashion and beauty Substack's reading about what everyone’s into at the moment. It’s such a different experience from how I produce my own beauty content through video. Instead, I get to scroll, vibe, and read in-depth about what’s inspiring people. Some of my favorites are From the Saie Office I love how they give a brand a life and use that as a marketing tool, Life with Mariana by Mariana Hewitt (my favorite female entrepreneur and founder of Summer Fridays) I’m forever inspired by her.

Invest! Invest in good long quality jackets, shoes, denim that will last you years. You may have to pay more or less if you thrift and find a good quality piece. I have no many items that are shifted that have lasted years, but they’re from popular fashion brands. Quality over quantity.

“Each Day Gets Better”

Aside from that January was a special month, I traveled to places I’ve longed to go and cemented the type of consumer I want to be. That may sound a little abstract, but I think this month’s menu will explain it a little more.

Let’s digest!

1- Toiletry Bags

It’s no secret Etsy is the Zach to my Cody. I have found so many epic pieces on Etsy and these toiletry bags are at the top of that list.

They are obviously stunning, zebra print + pink, I mean commmeee onnn!!! Aside from the aesthetics, I’ve been trying to truncate the makeup and skincare that I travel with, which has been quite hard. My family often jokes that I travel like a make up artist with a whole checkin bag dedicated to glam (this is an over exaggeration by the way). Either way, using reasonably sized toiletry bags to dwindle what gets to come and what has to stay has been the best way for me to avoid over doing it. So these bags have made my editing process so much easier and my bags go from over weight to just being “heavy”.

2 - Stocking Socks

So here’s the thing… socks don’t work with every shoe. My loafers, heels and dress shoes all have a sock aversion. So when I was ironically gifted short stockings as a stocking stuffer for Christmas this year, I was elated. I feel like these are the epitome of the “Young Ho’s” trend on Tiktok, like someones Grandma is out there in a robe shaking her head saying ““Young Ho’s” don’t wear stocking socks no more” and she would be right. I assume these socks were a staple and some how they fizzled out? maybe for all of us or just for me, idk. What I do know is, they are an absolute necessity and the life I was living pre-Christmas, pre-stocking socks is one I no longer recognize. These are the best item I discovered in 2025, and as I’ve become a loafer girl these socks have been handy.

3 - Mellograno

I started 2026 in Egypt, a place I left but will always stay. I packed nearly 5 perfumes, floral ones to wear in the sun, sultry ones to wear to art deco themed dinner reservations, ozonic ones to wear to the beach. I placed so much thought into my travel fragrance wardrobe, to only wear one perfume everyday of my 12 day trip. Mellograno by Santa Maria Novello became peerless in a toiletry bag filled to the brim. I found it to be perfect, it wrapped me in a monomania of obsession, only craving it. This powdery Chypre perfume features pomegranate, bergamot, rose and more grounding notes of oak moss and labdanum — it is nothing shy of STUNNING!

4 - Cheetah 1774 Birkenstocks

This was another Christmas gift. My little cousin had these and once I saw them I knew I needed them. Birkenstocks are to Spring and Summer what Uggs are to Fall and Winter, but these Cheetah ones have offered a break in that system ( I should note that this was before the snow storm lol).

These are the perfect travel shoe, slim enough to throw in you carryon and easy enough to wear with nearly every outfit— especially if you see animal print as a neutral!

5 - Bedouin’s Daughter Lip Gloss in Long Distance

I stopped at a friends during my extended layover in London and was graciously gifted the first launch of from their brand, Bedouin’s Daughter, along with some cheeky samples. This lip gloss in the shade Long Distance was the only lip product I used in Egypt! The color is absolutely perfect! It is almost the same color as my holy grail Charlotte Tilbury but is even better, believe it or not, and no it’s not my bias speaking. The shade is slightly more mauve, which for a brown gloss is highly important, so often brown lip products can be too cool and make you look like you have a 5 o’clock shadow or too warm and make you look like you have something rather gross on your face iykwim. This is also a bit less tingly than the Charlotte Tilbury, which is important in this frozen tundra, as the tingliness can make you feel like your lips are freeeezing off.

6 - Rose Tea

THISSSSS!! Ugh! This tea is soo good, and is really a good 10% of the reason I need to go back to Cairo. I went to a spice store that specializes in Egyptian and global spices sourced from Aswan. This store was as if I was walking through the world through the realm of spice. As a tea-aholic I of course went specifically for their tea selection, the second I smelled the Rose Tea, I told the sales associate to give me as much as possible. It is the most fragrant and flagrant tea I have ever had, even when I brew it, it brightens up my space with the scent of ripe red roses. It is an experience…

Me + My Louise Carmen Journal go together real bad. I posted a tiktok about my notebook frustration, the paper falling out, the spirals loosening, just full frustration.

I was clearly influenced by TikTok’s latest analog trend and opted for the leather portfolio and composition notebook combo…. I LOVE it. I take notes by hand so having an organized system where I can take notes for my various roles in one place has been a dream.

A little pizzaz, a little something funky, a little something different. I JUST LOVE!

10 - VinhLe Necklace

My friend Vincent launched his brand at the end of 2025, and as soon as I took a peek at his site, I added nearly everything to my Christmas List. My sister got me the Lumière Necklace, and it stays around my neck or around my bags. I just love it!!! Im also thinking about grabbing the Cotton Candy color, I just know it would love divine with a pair of jeanss.

WOAH! I can’t believe it has already been a year of cheffing up Consumer Digest and world building with you all. As we dive into 2026, I wanted to share an updated list of holy grail products, pieces and more. Many of which you’ve seen in the Monthly Menus and many were featured in 2024’s favorites. This list is slightly more refined and primarily made up of products I’ve repurchased time and time again. I’ll end the intro here…Welcome to 2025’s Beauty Cookbook!

Prequel Gleanser

Prequel’s Gleanser is one of the best skincare products I have ever tried, I am about 10 bottles in of all 3 versions; the glycolic, salicylic and original and it is a forever product for me. While I have other lovely cleansers, this one just takes the cake on all fronts (except that it’s hard to travel with lol). The pricing and amount of product you get is almost unheard of for a product like this.

Bodycare

Cyklar Multi Sensorial Body Wash

This is another product I’ve talked about ad nauseam. The Cyklar multi-sensorial body wash is just peak to me. I love the texture of this, it has a high percentage of glycerin, much like Prequel’s Gleanser, allowing for a luxurious and hydrating lathering. Sensorial is the best way to describe this as its feel is paired with scents that transform every shower into somewhat of an olfactory ritual. I reach for the Vanilla Verve, Bergamot Bond and Crescent scents the most, I got these for my whole family and my sister loves the Sacred Santal and my Dad loves Naked Neroli.

Naturium Glycolic The Smoother Body Wash

This is more of an intense body wash as its hero ingredient is Glycolic Acid. I see a very noticeable difference in how smooth my skin is when I use this. I have tried most of Naturium’s body washes and this is definitely my favorite. I also love the Glow Getter, but Cyklar has taken her place…

Experiment Molecular Mesh

Experiment is an indie brand that just consistently knocks it out of the park and their moisturizer molecular mesh is a testament to that. I must say, it’s incredibly hard to find perfect products, especially ones that make you question products you previously thought were perfect. This is that. Molecular Mesh is a no frills moisturizer that accomplishes everything you would want, even after hours your skin still feels like you just applied moisturizer. As winter obliterates my skin, as runny noses and tissues irritate my nose, this moisturizer keeps all the dry flakiness away.

Experiment Super Saturated Serum

This goes hand in hand with the last. Super Saturated is really an amazing product. As you can probably tell I have a love affair with Glycerin so naturally a serum with a high percentage of it floats my boat. This is the key to not only dewy but healthy skin, this feels like not just a topical refresh but an internal refresh.I find this to be a great alternative to snail mucin and I just feel like it does more and its slightly thicker texture allows it to last longer and be more effective.

Haru Haru Wonder Black Rice Milky Barrier Essence

Milky essences have been all the rage the past two years, so of course I’ve tried my fair share. The Haru Haru Wonder one is definitely my favorite, some other popular ones feel too thin to me or feel like a film over my skin rather than a product that is penetrating through and doing something. This one is absolutely perfect, it’s thick enough to do its job without being so thick that it clogs your pores. She is phantastic!!!

Bodycare

Cetaphil Rough and Bumpy Moisturizer

I really focus on smoothness and glowing when it comes to bodycare. The Cetaphil rough and Bumpy skin lotion is a light weight body cream that does just that. I love that it’s super light weight, so I use it solo or layer a body butter or something a little thicker when I need to.

CeraVe Healing Ointment

I think we all know how perfect petroleum jelly is. I’ve had my fair share of random scrapes and skin irritation this year, and this has been the go to,

Osea Salts of The Earth

This is another one that I’ve finished up 10 times over and subsequently have talked about nonstop. This is really the best body care product of all time. Most days I really cant be bothered with any bodycare steps post shower and this allows me to be lazy, because it does the job of a body scrub lotion and body oil.

Sides:

Cyklar In Shower Body Balm

This was a new love this year. The Cyklar body balm is the kind of body care product I’ve been waiting for. Now don’t get me wrong, I have tried a few similar products, or even just applied body oil in the shower but this is by far the best.

Desserts:

Starface Salicylic Acid Patches

I’ve not been as into the pimple patches as expected, I never really felt like they worked until I tried the Star Face Salicylic acid patches. These have made pimple patches click for me, I only need to cover a spot once, overnight and the next day the volcano has erupted and I have successfully avoided the hyperpigmentation causing picking!

Daily Sheet Masks

I don’t have a specific brand or product for this one, but I have been LOVING daily sheet masks that come in a box of 30.They’re light little sheet masks intended for daily use, and I just find that they make all the difference in winter.

Mask Vivant + VIP O2

I started going to Karine Kazarian’s Facial Studio in the village in early 2025. Karine is a Biologique Recherche studio, so they use primarily BR products. My facialist suggested I get consistent with the Vivant + VIP 02 combo and that’s just what I’ve been doing. I play scientist with it and mask a few different ways depending on what my skin’s needing. I either do Mask Vivant followed by VIP 02 or I mix the two, or apply each where I feel I need them, mostly Vivant on my T-Zone and VIP 02 around my eyes and more sensitive areas. I am not above a little hack so I’ll also add a little backing soda in there to make it just a little more purifying.

I love Chicago House music so I am always listening to a house set while I work or on my daily walks. Right now, I’m watching Pop Star Academy on Netflix and I am obsessed(I love when they talk about “star power” lol), watching thru my Letterboxd list “RICH SEXY AND IN DANGER” which is 80s and 90s erotic thrillers, my favorite creator on tiktok right now is @shesunderated aka (Serena By The Sea)she covers all the niche pop culture things that I love and she’s just so hot and cool! I read the Substack “Neverworns”, and I’m a bravo fan so I’m always watching Housewives and listening to SUP (sexy unique podcast). LOTS of vintage shopping online: I use the GEM app to search and I am always scrolling TRR, eBay and Poshmark. This summer I also got into reading really trashy 80s books my favorite was “Hollywood Wives” by Jackie Collins. I love anything 80s. I am off of Twitter since last year and I feel much lighter.

Old Hollywood! The 30s thru the late 60s. I’m obsessed with all the gossip. Also, anything Elizabeth Taylor. She was a huge inspiration to me while I was making my fragrance. I was reading her book at the same time. What she created with White Diamonds and how she reinvented herself in the process. She’s just incredible.

What is the best advice you’ve ever received?

My husband always tells me “If you’re for everybody, you’re for nobody”. That’s helped me so much as I’ve managed an online presence. Having a point of view can turn people off but also will attract who should be there.

“Each Day Gets Better”

Without further ado , Let’s Digest!

1 - Bellocq Tea “Amar Chai”

I’ve discussed my love for Bellocq Tea’s “The Queens Guard” ad nauseam but there is a slight caffeine caveat to my love for this tea. So earlier this month I went to their Greenpoint Tea Atelier to seek an evening tea that wouldn’t cause insomnia. Their amazing staff guided me through the options and I landed on the flagrant “Amar Chai”, which feature a chai of South African rooibos, rose, marigold, cassia and ginger. I wouldn’t coin myself as a Chair Connoisseur but this is phenomenal.

2 - D’Annam “Majestic China” Discovery set

Since my October trip to Stéle Williamsburg, I have become a D’annam super fan. This is mainly due to the fact that it is not just about smelling good when it comes to D’annam. It’s about the celebration of global cultures, the stories that they tell through scent, the well roundedness of each collection.They sent me the sample set for “Majestic China” and it transported me to another world beyond scent and beyond time. I chose to be sent Spring Festival and would like to get my hands on Pomelo Oolong and or Chinese Caligraphy!

@phialikesophiaAnother D'Annam sample set! This is "Majestic China" and it is certainly majestic. Overall I absolutely loved each perfume and this third chapter of @d'Annam. They are not just perfumes, but chapters of historical and cultural story. Transporting you to times and places so different than the modern world, or modern perfume trends. I recorded this before I saw or heard any other reviews!

3 - Molecular Mesh by Experiment

Experiment makes some of the most innovative and quality skincare. This month I picked up their new moisturizer “Molecular Mesh” and I must say, I think it is the best moisturizer of all time. The texture is thin and thick at the same time, the formula repairing and glowy. It genuinely feels like I am wrapping my face in a cocoon of moisture and protection every time I use it! As it gets closer to the depths of winter, I wake up with my skin dry and flakey (no matter how much I moisturize or even “Slug“) but since I’ve been using this I wake up just as plump and moisturized as I went to bed!

4 - Perfume by Patrick Süskind

Reading is slowly becoming a new category of consistent consumption for me, in an effort to make it more consistent I’ve been getting more specific about the books I chose. This month I went for Perfume by Patrick Süskind, book that combines two of my obsessions; perfume and “true” crime and it has been just what I need to stay on track.

Im a B&B kind of girl, all I need is some blush and brow gel and I am good to go. I randomly reached for Rhode’s Toasted Teddy and it is going everywhere with me for the rest of my life!!

Considering my day to day beat is incredibly simple, I love this blush because the shade does more than just add a little color to my cheeks. Its toasted shade also gives a level of dimension that you would typically get from a blush, bronzer and contour. So it really is a one stop shop for when you want a little something that requires much thought.

7 - KJH Eyebrow Gel

As stated previously brown gel is a daily ritual for me. I love the Maybelline brow gel but I was gifted the KJH one whilst on set with non other than Katie herself.

8 - Prequel Gleanser + Glycolic

Prequel’s Gleanser is probably my most repurchased product of all time, so when the released a version with Glycolic acid, I knew I had to try it. While I’ve been recommended glycolic acid by dermatologists and facialists, I haven’t kept it in my routine consistently because it can be a bit harsh, depending on the formula and the other products I am using at the time. So using it in a cleanser that stays on the skin briefly was very appealing to me. its not in a serum, toner or moisturizer so I don’t have to worry about it staying on my face and the potential irritation.

9. Chairish + Etsy

   With winter ushering itself in, I’ve felt this push towards hibernating on the small intricate details of my world. With this came an un-urgent desire to figure out what I like. And when I say what I like, I don’t mean my preferences but rather determining how to articulate what I like. Knowing what you like is great but if you can’t explain it our understand it, liking it isn’t all that helpful.

   So over the past few weeks, I’ve been taking in art and design differently—more analytically, more intentionally. I’ve been in a bit of a monomania, constantly asking: What era is this from? What influence does this pull from? What language do I even use to search for this? I’ve been refining my search terms, narrowing my historical references, and tracing the lineage of my taste. In this quiet obsession, Chairish, 1stDibs, and Etsy have become my Lewis and Clark—mapping the terrain of my design instincts and helping me name what I’m drawn to.

10. Bonus Moment of The Month: John Legend “Get Lifted” 20th Anniversary Concert

I am an album person and John Legend makes my the list of my favorite albums of all time, not only once but twice. The Get Lifted album is such a well preserved, timeless time capsule. It reminds me of family road trips, from a time when I was too young to speak let alone sing.So naturally a concert focused on all 15 tracks from one of my favorite albums was a highlight of my November.

For someone who loves food and restaurants, this is an agonizingly difficult question!!! Right now I’m hyperfixating on brunch at Commerce Inn. It’s such a cozy spot, and they do all of my favorite brunch foods (eggs, potatoes, and pancakes) so well! As far as dinner, I always come back to Cervo’s. Great food, great vibe—it’s always my first pick for a group.

I’ve thought a lot about the Elle Woods study montage from Legally Blonde recently (a truly iconic scene—I would’ve done anything for that orange Mac back in the day!). I feel like I’m in that phase of my life right now. Career-wise, this past year has been a big pivot for me—I went from a media company where I had spent almost all of my professional life, to working freelance, spending more time on my newsletter, and exploring new industries. At times it’s been really challenging and lonely. But it’s also exciting—my world is getting bigger, and I’m doing so many things I’m really excited about. I don’t know if I have haters to prove wrong like Elle, but I feel like I’m proving myself to the world in a lot of ways, and I’m proud of that.

I also think often of the idea that we’re the average of the five people we spend the most time with. Whether you believe that or not, with the number of times I’ve rewatched Gossip Girl, there’s no way my scheme queen Blair Waldorf hasn’t imprinted deeply on my brain.

I read a million and one newsletters. Always have. I originally used them to keep up with news, and as more have sprung up, I have plenty more for culture/ shopping/ for fun. There’s definitely a healthy dose of social too—I love seeing what other people are wearing/ doing/ eating/ going to/ talking about. I think I consume a lot. At times it veers into overconsumption and that doesn’t feel good, but when it’s at a healthy level, it makes me feel more informed. I think people are quick to dismiss “internet things,” but it’s such a big part of our culture. I value knowing what people are talking about and what they’re saying about it.

If you had to choose your “big three” based on your favorite media, brands or products what would your Sun,Moon and Rising be?

Sun= I want to say Shit I Bought and Liked, but aside from that, my TikTok FYP. It’s a mix of great outfits, recipes and restaurant reviews, political memes, beautiful interiors, woo-woo tarot readers, cultural commentary, beauty reviews, unhinged internet humor... all the facets of me in one place! My newsletter is technically about my shopping finds, but a lot of those things find their way in there too!

Moon= Doen. I’m a Cancer moon, which means the romantic, nostalgic, sweet Doen vibe is VERY aligned.

It’s not always how I dress/present myself—sometimes it feels a little too delicate for the world that I’m in (tbh that’s how I feel too sometimes)—but I have pieces that I love, and have incorporated more of them over time, which I think aligns with my increasing level of comfort with expressing that side of myself.

Rising= Violet Grey. I LOVE VG. It’s thoughtfully curated with a mix of accessible favorites and high end stuff that’s really worth it, plus a few niche recs you’ll only find there, which is exactly how I hope people see my taste and my letter. I too love beauty and luxury, but I don’t gatekeep—I share all my good intel! I hope I present like your most in-the-know friend, and the first person you think of when you need a rec or want an opinion on something.

Wine Simple by Aldo Sohm. Perhaps not your typical book rec, but I read this cover to cover over the summer and loved it (so much so that I wrote a whole newsletter about it!). I had some basic wine knowledge prior, but I wanted something to help me build a stronger foundation, and this was exactly what I was looking for. It was really approachable and I learned so much—I’ve been recommending it to everyone!

What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received?

When people say they love my newsletter. That thing is ME!

What are your favorite serums, body lotions etc.?

Kate McLeod’s Daily Stone. I love a solid body moisturizer so much! When it comes to serums, I’m always trying something new! Retruové’s Nutrient Face Serum is one of my favorite indulgences though

Rhode’s moisturizer! It’s simple, affordable, and really agrees with my skin, plus it’s the perfect size for travel.

This might sound harsh, but I try to remind myself that just because something looks amazing on someone else doesn’t always mean it will be right for me. I try to think about my style, my body, my skin type, the colors that look best on me, etc. before I go out and buy something that someone else recommends

What’s a perspective you’ve had that has completely changed overtime?

I’m sure there are many, but the first to come to mind is that I used to hate olives?? Was I ok????

What are your favorite lip care products, candles - the things that act as the icing on the cake in your self care and beauty routine.

I have such a weakness for a good lip product. My current favorite is the m.ph Lip Ciggy in Overdrive. I also love anything that elevates the everyday things we do, like a fancy hand soap/lotion. Right now I’m using Sangre De Fruta’s Garden of Earthly Delights—I love the scent and that it still feels a little under the radar.

What is your favorite dessert or midnight snack?

I honestly LOVE a slice of cake—criminally underrated as far as dessert goes

What’s your favorite thing on your nightstand?

My water bottle.

The Twitter glory days. It was mostly a hellsite but there were so many distinct/bizarre cultural moments that were SO fun to be on it for—I’m loling just thinking about it

What is the best advice you’ve ever received?

“Long no, short yes.” It’s not advice I was given personally, but I read it recently. The gist is that if you’re struggling with a decision and going back and forth about it constantly, then it’s a no. If it’s something you can commit to quickly and definitively, then it’s a yes.

What is your favorite restaurant?

Right now? Fish Cheeks in NYC and Bambou in Paris. Both are Thai fusion but have very different vibes. Fish Cheeks has great cocktails and is such a fun place to go with friends. My go-to drink order is the Tongue & Cheek in a little coupe. Bambou has amazing desserts (I dream about the eclair often) and the unusual decor makes it perfect for meeting up with a new friend or reconnecting with an old fling — there’ll never be a dull moment because at the very least you can chat about the upholstery or smoking parlor in the basement.

Describe yourself in 3 words:Exacting. Unapologetic. Obsessive.

Describe yourself or what you do using references from movies,characters, TV shows, or songs.

I always say my job is like Mad Men so that my family has a grasp on what I do for a living. It’s glamorous and exciting and the proximity to celebrities, tastemakers and important decision-makers can sometimes give a false sense of power and prestige. But at the end of the day, like Don Draper, I’m just some guy. Or more specifically in my case, just some girl who happens to help startups and investors build the companies of tomorrow. I’d also say my work can be a little bit of Wendy Rhoades from Billions, and a tad bit of both Aaron Burr and Alex Hamilton in the song ‘Nonstop’ from Hamilton the Musical. Me as a person, though? I’d say I’m Erika Girardi pre-lawsuit drama mixed with the musical number ‘Chip on Your Shoulder’ from Legally Blonde on Broadway. You could probably also throw a little bit of Lady Mary (from Downton Abbey) and Mary Jane Paul (from Being Mary Jane) in there too. Strong sense of self, a little controlling and condescending, but deeply passionate and fiercely loving towards the people they care about.

Describe your “digital diet”

My screen time is ridiculous. I’m trying to work on that. I think I average 6-9 hours a day. Mainly I scroll through Instagram following people I know IRL or work with. Recently, Substack has been my favorite app along with falling in love with YouTube again. Long-form content is *in* whether it’s written or in video form. Brand Baby by Bethany Paris Ramsey, The Sauce by Kellie Spano, With Love, Mufaro by Mufaro, Reframed by Ashley Rudolph, and Work Wife by Sabrina Molu are some of my fave newsletters that I check daily while on my lunch break. Weekend mornings are for YouTube. @ParisianVibe is one of my favorite channels. Their “In The Bag of 3 Parisians” series is top tier ambient but entertaining content. I also love SheerLuxe’s YouTube account, especially their ‘Leading Ladies’ series and the ‘BTS of [Fill in Cool Agency, Event, or Product Launch]’ videos. It’s like 52 minutes of pure chic, fun, cool girl energy. In what world would I watch 50+ minute YouTube videos?!?! This one, apparently, if they’re made by Sheerluxe 🤷🏾‍♀️. Every single one is so perfectly paced and filmed in the unfiltered, low-fi but still high quality and professionally produced way. I also watch A LOT of sports. Several evenings throughout the week, I’ll stay up way past my bedtime trying to catch up on WNBA games. Minnesota Lynx, New York Liberty, and Las Vegas Aces all get top priority on my screen time.

Because both of these videos rocked my world recently in the most frivolously fabulous and inspiring way: “Inside The Team That Runs The Beauty World: Glossier, Victoria Beckham, Diptyque” from SheerLuxe’s YouTube and “A Stylish Businesswoman’s Dream Wardrobe, Building A Brand, Biohacking Routine & Dubai Hotspots” also from SheerLuxe (starts off slow but picks up ~13min mark)

I also revisit Wes Kao’s article “Rigorous Thinking” at least once or twice a year. She’s one of the best and most underrated leadership experts. She was my business coach when I first started my company and I use her advice as the gold standard. This specific article put a name to the specific approach I use in everything (work, life, romantic, etc.) to achieve success. The world needs more rigorous thinking, if you ask me!

What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received?

“You’re so cool” said by an underclassman to me and my best friend our senior year of college. Sounds cheesy, but it was really affirming to be seen as aspirational and cool just from being my authentic self. Every time I start to care too much about how I’m being perceived I think back to that moment and remind myself to just be who I am.

What are your favorite serums, body lotions etc.?

I am hardcore obsessed with Abi Ame’s summer skin body serum. It’s a body lotion-serum hybrid that soaks into the skin so well and feels soooo luxurious. I just bought my fifth tube.

If I want something a bit more ritualistic, I’ll reach for Koba Skin body creme. For my face, Topicals FADED has been a godsend because dark spots are my #1 skin concern and nothing worked on my darker skin except their serum. I’ve been buying it since launch day in 2020 and it’s really helped me handle the recurring scars that pop up from all my skin picking. I’m on my seventh or eighth one at this point. Other honorable mentions: Light Beams Skin Barrier Serum by Of Other Worlds (if you use a lot of chemical exfoliants this is good!) and Caudalie’s vinoperfect but I only get it in France because the U.S. prices are ridiculous.

One product you’ll repurchase over and over again?

SO MANY! I’m fanatical when it comes to products I love. Maybe my most beloved is On Til Dawn Setting Spray by One/Size or the Taylor Farms pre-made chopped Cesar Salad on Amazon Grocery delivery.

What’s your most worn fashion piece?

A random “Black Billionaires Club” sweatshirt from this cool brand I found on Instagram during early days of COVID. I’ve worn in 2-3 times a week for the last 5 years. Mine is so worn down that I desperately want a new one but they release in such limited quantity runs that I may never get a chance. According to Instagram the last time they had the Black version in stock was 218 weeks ago...

What’s your death row meal?

I can’t even begin to think of an answer for this because I’m so afraid of death!!! Maybe a really good lobster roll with thinly cut chives and garlic butter?

What’s in your bag?

Wear what you like. It’s not about finding a signature style, it’s about wearing what makes you feel good and if that’s the same thing every single day then go for it!

What’s a perspective you’ve had that has completely changed overtime?

That marriage is a scam. I grew up overexposed to shows like Flavor of Love, Rock of Love, Vanderpump Rules, and The Bachelor which gave me a really screwed up view of what adult relationships and marriage was supposed to look like. Now I’m completely flipped and starting to appreciate the romance and whimsy that comes from a beautiful wedding and loving marriage.

What was your favorite item of clothing as a child?

My basketball jersey for whatever team I was playing on at the time — either AAU or my school team.

I’m a lip product fiend right now. Eadem’s Le Chouchou in Butter Mochi is my favorite in squeezy tube right now but my go-to is always a lipstick style format. I love Finding Ferdinand’s Morphosis lip balm which gives an Hermès or Gucci Beauty level of chicness with it’s packaging but at a fraction of the price and is Asian American-owned with a clean, vegan formula

What is your favorite dessert or midnight snack?

Birthday cake milkshake from Braum’s or a cake jar from Blondery

What’s your favorite thing on your nightstand?

My charging pad because it forces me to put my phone down and go to sleep. Without it, I’d be tap-tap-tapping away all night.

Anne Hathaway! I love her style and she wears Christopher John Rogers sooo well. She also seems thoughtful in an honest yet kind way which makes for a great dinner party guest.

Tariro Makoni who’s the author of Trademarked, a newsletter here on Substack. She seems like someone who cares about all the little details and understands the ✨context✨ surrounding what she buy which makes for a great conversation partner. I also think she’d be a great person for comparative analysis. Most people don’t try tons of the same product in order to find the best one and that makes her even more interesting. I think she and I have that in common – our desire to test different things before committing to a favorite.

My friend Christal who’s the founder of Tonal Cosmetics and has an incredible eye for art and design. We send ultra long voice memos about what we’re loving and what we’re side-eyeing all the time.

Libby Callaway, one of the coolest people I’ve ever met. I had the honor of interning for her. I was absolutely awful at that job, but learned so much and was able to see what a true tastemaker is like — not just someone who claims to have an edge and curates “taste” based on what’s trending.

What is a topic you wish someone would ask you about – a quirky interest or something you’re well versed in that you don’t get to talk about enough.

How we can change the world by our own individual actions. I see so much doom and gloom on the internet, especially now, and there’s this resounding theme of feeling helpless. That feeling of cynicism can be curbed by doing something and I want to talk about all the things we could be doing instead of doomscrolling — volunteering, donating, advocacy, accountability, mutual aid, community building, etc. etc. Please!!! ASK ME ABOUT IT.

What is the best advice you’ve ever received?

“In the end, it’ll all be okay. If it’s not okay then it’s not the end.”

But here we are.I of course have new favorites and even if it’s the only reason I am excited for the new month and winter rearing its head, i’ll take.

1. Cyklar Shower Body Balm

My favorite thing to do is shower. Since I was a kid showering was a highlight of my day but, the second I get out of the shower I can’t be bothered to do anything more, lotioning becomes a chore. I’ve realized this and decided to start moisturizing my body while in the shower, even though it takes the same amount of time, I’m much more consistent this way. It also helps that my skin is still a little damp so the moisture lasts longer and is amplified.

2. Mooncake by D’Annam

If you follow me on TikTok you’re well aware of my love affair with D’annam’s Mooncake. This is a different take on the bakery gourmand that can be hit or miss for me. Rather than a buttery over indulgent treat Mooncake takes a more grounded and even keel path to sweetness.

I find the red bean and egg yolk notes to be the glue of this fragrance, they create a custard, starchy profile that leaves you wanting more, the notes harmonizing rather than overpowering one another. I am not a fan of butter (ik it sounds crazy), I feel it coats whatever you’re cooking and doesn’t let the natural flavor of the vegetables you’re cooking, so I assume that’s why I’m against the Patisserie style fragrances and thus why I love this take on a sweet treat gourmand.

I had one of the best Saturday’s of all time a few weeks ago… It started with a full body scrub at The Tribeca Spa of Tranquility and ended with my first trip to Stéle in Williamsburg. Since then I have not shut up about it! For one, all of the perfumes are on display, not gate kept behind a counter like you’re in a city CVS shampoo aisle.

Each perfume is sprayed on a clay dish with the notes and price on the other side, allowing you to easily smell. This way you can smell things without note preference bias and get a true idea of what you actually like, not what you think you like.

4. Fur Lined Loafer!

I get shoe compulsive from time to time. I wore the same shoes every day of eighth grade, out of athletic superstition and rituals. This month I’ve been kept the ritual without the anxiety of superstition but rather utility. These Gucci Jordaan Loafers have quickly become a star in my shoe collection, they simply go with everything, fit perfectly and most importantly keep my constantly cold toes warm!

5. Face Reality Ulta Gentle Cleanser

I love a good gentle cleanser and have a ton of recs! This month I’ve been using the Face Reality Ultra Gentle Cleanser and is nestling itself at a high spot in between Prequel’s Gleanser and the Sofie Pavitt cleanser.

This was in the Things I’m Trying This Month's section of September’s Menu. I have really wanted to find a book to get me into reading and Exit Lane by Erica Veurink was certainly it. It was perfect in every way imaginable!

8. Glass Tea Pot

The Queens Guard tea supremacy has been talked about ad nauseam, so I’ll bare you my spiel on how it is the best tea to every exist and that it smells like everything I have every looked for in a tea perfume and yada yada. I found the King to accompany my Queen, a glass stop top tea pot. This lets me make a huge batch so I don’t have to steep and boil my water separately all day.

Okay, this is a product that I need to justify… this foundation is 100 dollars, yes real United States Dollars. But I do think this is MY foundation, so no more testing and looking for a new one. The color match is absolutely perfect, the finish is perfect, no notes.

10. Lucky Charms Jumbo Rainbow

Lucky Charms are basically a synonym for Phia. They have been a major food group to me since I was a kid. This month I found these limited edition Jumbo Rainbow Lucky Charms and they are magically delicious

Estela! The furthest two seats at the bar are perfect, IMHO. It's more or less a menu full of dishes you'd find on a super fancy tasting menu served in a sliver of space on Houston Street—tiny, sexy, loud—I love it. Close runners-up include Bernie's, The Four Horsemen, Via Carota, and Lucali.

Describe yourself in 3 words: Full Time Aquarius

Describe yourself or what you do using references from movies,characters, TV shows, or songs.

I have a theory that all women have a dose of Carrie Bradshaw in them (gasping while reading this only confirms you're a little Carrie too—I don't make the rules!). There are some similarities...my top three simple pleasures are writing, expensive cocktails, and great lighting. On the same note—it took me three decades to realize I'm a Type A person masquerading as Type B. I relate to Dakota Fanning's character in "Uptown Girls"—her name is Ray and just like me, punctuality and preciseness are her love languages, and she- like me- does not forget ANYTHING, all while just wanting to be loved. Similarly to Ray, I also from time to time will wear sunglasses inside just to prove a point.

Describe your “digital diet”

Last year my boss gave me these Bose headphones she didn't want—they kind of make me look like I'm running the door at a 2002 nightclub, but they are always in my ears and I am always listening to podcasts. My feed ranges from Gabby Bernstein and Rick Rubin to "To Be Magnetic" and "Diary of a CEO"—and just about anything anyone recommends. One thing about me: if you tell me to try, listen to, or do something that will make me richer, hotter, or smarter...I'll sign up on the spot!

It's incredible that we can absorb information in an hour that our parents would have needed a library card or a shaman to access. I try to stay as informed as possible with the news—it's tough but vital. I'm also a meme enthusiast—particularly astrology-related content. How do these people do it? Finding 4 photos of a cat to embody a Capricorn? Unbelievable.

I feel chic when my apartment is clean, my hair is done and my outfit is fire and someone just sent me a text message or meme that made me laugh so hard I'm crying. I feel chic when I choose to be the bigger person and take the time to put myself in somebody elses shoes. Once in a blue moon all of these stars align- but on most days I'll take what I can get.

I am very simple when it comes to products as I prefer to spend my money on treatments. I do love this one scrub by Palermo Body- it's a coffee energizing scrub that makes your body look like you've just come back from 3 weeks in The Maldives with the love of your life...THE GLOW. I wash my hair with Olaplex - i feel like everyone has something to say about every shampoo- but it works for me.

I'm currently reading Anatomy of a Breakthrough by Adam Alper. I've read a lot of books in this vein- but this one is hitting. I recently listened to Emma Grede on Diary of a CEO- INCREDIBLE- a real force...she blew me away. On Substack, I enjoy Claire Moore's "Following Up," Hunter Harris's "Hung Up," Tatum Dooley's "Art Forecast," Plum Sykes' "PS," and Sydney Engelhart's "Thoughts and Wants." I just finished watching The Pitt- just as good as everyone says.

What’s your favorite song? or song lyrics?

I live in New York, which means I walk everywhere. I kind of hate this phrase—but I find myself needing to channel a lot of main character energy—so there’s often a theme song in my head saved for the most dramatic and romantic part of the movie. I used to have a million step skin care routine- but now I keep it pretty simple. Tatcha Dewy Skin Cream, sometimes P50 , a good eye cream, U BEAUTY Resurfacing Compound...nothing crazy.

The Estee Lauder Ultimate Diamond Eye Creme has changed my life. I have a friend who works for the brand and suggested I try- it is expensive but INCREDIBLE.

Oh god- I don't really think I have one. I love my vintage furs in the winter- coats in general are a great way to look like you have your life together!

What’s a perspective you’ve had that has completely changed overtime?

Timelines! I used to be obsessed- you have to do X by this age, Y by this age...absolutely not true. Now whenever I feel behind or uncertain I ask myself 'do you want a life that looks good or feels good?', and if I'm having fun and learning I know I'm where I'm supposed to be rather than comparing myself to others.

What was your favorite item of clothing as a child?

Anything that slightly resembled what the Olsen Twins were wearing in their videos...as an admirer of The Row I guess you could say not much has changed

What's meant for you will never pass you by! It's so true- I can say this now with so much confidence now that I'm out of my 20's- when something is for you- a guy a job a trip whatever- it's natural...there's no pacing, no wondering...retire the hamster wheel.

What is your favorite restaurant?

Cafeteria-- I've been coming here for a decade with both family and friends. It's chill, it's fun, it's casual-- and whether it's for brunch or dinner, I know it'll always be a good vibe. The drinks are fabulous and the food is delicious. Don't hate on me, but the meatloaf....fire. And occasionally, on Friday nights, they'll pass around jell-o shots for all!

Hilarious, tenacious, confident

I've been living in the city for almost six years and I love Sex and the City (but I'm an OG fan i.e. a Big apologist) so using that, I would say I'm a unmarried PR executive (kinda?) like my girl Samantha, with the writing prowess of Carrie when she decides she has time to write and stops letting men rule her life (my Substack is bomb), the drive of Miranda when it comes to my career/professional life, but the tenderness and earnestness of Charlotte when it comes to my family and close friends. My going out vibe is similar to the episode where Carrie goes out all night and then has to show up to that random photo shoot...a great mix of high/low. I'd rather eat out than cook (sorry), so getting dumped in Eleven Madison (pre-veganism) is honestly fine with me. I'd describe my style as somewhere between a Miranda and Carrie-- chic yet playful. I've been loving colors recently and a silhouette, but also really enjoy well-tailored fits. And finally, I can't stop yapping ever, so if I could sit all day in an elevated diner and gossip, that would be my dream.

Describe your “digital diet”

My digital diet has changed a lot over the past year actually. Because I started my theater-focused substack @onthehouse in February I've been spending a lot more time writing and reading on Substack instead of scrolling on IG and TikTok. However, I am chronically online and would like to be less so. All that to say, I do love the internet and all it's created—for better or worse. I'm not a big influencer person, and I follow about 2 or 3 who I think are actually cool and have good style. I was a big Twitter girl (only Republicans call it X) until about two months ago when I realized I may be contributing to the downfall of democracy by patronizing that app and decided to officially delete it. I love podcasts and it's unfortunate that there's an influx of incels taking over that space, but the ones that standout to me are "Code Switch", "Fresh Air", "The Watch," and my favorite "Las Culturistas". Not to mention a few housewives-based podcasts I listen to because I live and die by housewives discourse. I'm an avid movie and television watcher with a concentration on reality television. It's the only way I can disassociate healthily. Housewives is my main addiction (and all housewives fodder), followed by Love Island (one month left until US and UK come back), followed by any of the other random Bravo shows that make you realize you're a relatively sane person. Finally, I'm always always listening to music and I get that notification on my phone once a day that my earphones are too loud (okay no one wants to party anymore?). Right now, I'm coming off Charli XCX's second tour and can't stop playing Gaga's new album, so I'm in my pop era. However, I'll always be an avid R&B/Soul girl, and I'm obsessed with every female rapper right now-- they're doing it better than the men fr. And of course, I'm always listening to my showtunes playlist...bumping that Sunset Boulevard soundtrack insanely right now (the composition is sickening)

It's also the song at the crux of all the drama in one of my favorite movies, The Best Man.

What’s a perspective you’ve had that has completely changed overtime?

I used to say I didn't believe in embarrassment, or that as a confident person, you shouldn't ever feel embarrassed. But over the years, I've realized that feelings of embarrassment aren't bad and often can curb human behavior or impulsive decisions. Essentially, embarrassment can keep you in check— which isn't a bad thing.

What was your favorite item of clothing as a child?

I grew up in Florida until I was 12 so I was the queen of "booty shorts" as a kid, before I hit puberty of course. I think I had four variations of the same pair, but my favorite was a pair of dark wash, low-rise, ripped ones from Hollister, and they were so short you could see the pockets come out. It was giving thot daughter to be fair.

I'm a Fenty stan until I die, and recently I just started buying Ami Colé Lip Treatment Oil to add to the repertoire and I love them. For lip liners I go with browns (always) and do either Makeup Forever or Mac's. I also have Vaselines just around surfaces in my apartment, so my lips are for real never chapped. I'm a tad basic so before I go to bed, I hit the Lip Sleeping Mask religiously. My favorite candle right now is Capri Blue Volcano #6 and whatever I pick up at Home Goods/ TJ Maxx (they're $7!!)

Tiramisu for dessert, and Nachos Grande Supreme from Taco Bell if I'm hungry and it's late (iykyk)

“ Each Day Gets Better”

October … This morning was the quintessential ushering in of a new season. October 1st came in with the wind and set the tone for me to involuntarily crave a Caramel Apple Spice, a drink that does to me what a Pumpkin Spice Latte does to a Christian Girl Autumn alumna. The chill at 7:30 am made me want to stop in my tracks and head back home to douse myself in some Althäir + Poets of Berlin (my fall scent combo) and naturally brought the excitement of serving September’s Menu!

Let’s Digest!

1 - Vibram Shoes

The excitement I have to talk about these little ugly shoes is unreal. Since the labor day I’ve been waiting for the end of the month to share my new found love for these unequivocally ugly five finger shoes. I’ll start by saying, clearly I’m a hater. My cousin wore these all summer and I would openly hate until we went to do an outdoor workout and surprisingly she was wearing them to lift. I then got a bright idea, what if I got these for PT and to keep in my gym bag?

I typically wear running shoes to the gym and feel the need to take them off to do literally anything other than run. Wearing socks at the gym is undoubtedly weird and if you do its likely that the friction of the gym floor leaves you with holes and constantly needing to buy new socks. So these Vibram five finger sock shoe thingys have been the solution.

2 - Maed Lip Balm in Rekon

I hopped into Sephora on a whim and came across some of the new brands they’re offering in store. My attention was immediately caught by Maed, whose packaging is stunnin’. I picked up the shade Reckon and haven’t really put it down since.

3 - Hyperice Roller

So no one was going to tell me the Theragun and Foam Roller had a love child?! Well if you didn’t know and you’re late to the party now you know. Dare I say these vibrating foam rollers have eradicated my post leg day soreness.

4 - Redken Extreme Length Treatment Deep Conditioner

I’ve done a bit of a fall hair reset. I typically wear my natural hair but cycle in a few protective styles every few weeks. For fall it’s looking like it’s just gonna be me and my fro, so I’ve been solidifying a routine I can stay consistent with. So far I’ve put together a line up of products that I love, which I can discuss at another time, but for today I wanted to talk about an unexpected headliner in the line up— The Redken Extreme Length Triple Action Treatment.

The way this glided across my curls… I am speechless but I still have much to say. This detangled my hair so well, I wont lie I was a bit skeptical as the texture is much lighter than my typical thique, creamy deep conditioners. The instructions say to leave it in for 5 minutes, which is 1/6th the amount of time I’d typically deep condition. The short saturation time and the lightness of the formula has me thinking I’ve been distracted by the frills of deep conditioning and missing out on products that accomplish everything I need (and then some) with more intention and less time wasted. The time thing is such a plus because I don’t have to shower twice! AND as someone currently washing their hair twice a week this makes it easier to deep condition every wash day and stay consistent!!

5- Bonita Bubble Balm

Staying on theme of the previous… The Doux Bonita Bubble Balm has put everything about twist outs to ease. Its really a one stop shop for the moisture of a cream and the hold of a mousse. I still use a topper gel for extra hold (as a typically would when using a mousse). It’s soooooo goood!

6- Sofreh Brooklyn

Adding a new section to these menus… my favorite restaurant or thing I ate last month. For this month the answer was very easy… Sofreh in Brooklyn. Everything is phenomenal at this Persian restaurant in Prospect Heights.

7 - Fara Homidi Bronzer

For nearly 6 years I’ve clung onto Kosas’ blush in the shade “Contrachroma”, one of the few products I have hit pan on multiple times; but as one can expect, it’s been discontinued. I used it as a bronzer and since its retirement powder bronzer has lacked luster to me.I’ve tried quite a few and they all have the same problems – the shade is Oompa loompa adjacent or they simply do not have color payoff.

Fara Homidi’s Bronzer has changed my bronzer cynicism. It’s the perfect shade, gives the perfect payoff and is one of those products that makes looking at other bronzers obsolete. This is looking like a ride or die staple and is on the trajectory to land on 2025’s Menu.

8 - Moment: The Bridge Car Show

The Bridge is my favorite event of the year!! It has all my favorite things: food, cars and fashion. Out of the three food is definitely my favorite and The Bridge does everything I need it to in that department.

9 - Fall Scent Combo

Poets of Berlin + Althäir is my ultimate fall perfume combo. As stated in the intro, the second the air gets brisk I crave this combo, it reminds me of the outfits I wore with it, the days I spent with it and just ties scent and memory together.

1. Running 40 miles this month basically 10 miles a week!

2. I did not do an ounce of junk journaling last month, so Im gonna give ago again for October.

5. I’m trying to figure out how to be more patient and present. I’m thinking less screen time and less headphones when I’m walking outside. I am someone who listens to music as much as I breathe, which is a good thing but sometimes displaces me from where I am or being in the moment. I constantly listen to music, and I love lyrics so I’m constantly day dreaming, or getting myself worked up about things I’ve never experienced and so on. I don’t know if it makes sense but thats what I’m trying this month!

I’ve always loved my space looking curated with my vintage trinkets and kitschy thrift store finds. Juxtaposed with slight chaos in the way that there’s no main focal point and a whirlwind of glitter swept through. Adding to this visual would be the photos of Sophia Coppola’s home office circa 2000, no notes at all that’s exactly how my office would look.

Anjali is an internet friend I made earlier this year, for me internet friends are highly regarded. We weren’t brought together by a school district or neighborhood but the all knowing, ever present algorithm. Which brought me to her “Closet Show Stopper Series” that highlights one of a kind fashion pieces. She’s incredibly aromatic, keeping you very present and engaged. She studied law for undergrad and is starting a new chapter as an english teacher this fall. It’s a three-way tie between Saravana Bhavan (South Indian vegetarian restaurant I grew up going to all the time and still love), Nopi (an Ottolenghi restaurant in London that does the best small plates ever), and Cervo’s (seafood spot on the LES where I first tried seafood after growing up vegetarian and fell in love with it!)

I’m an aspiring Elle Woods - I love style, fashion, and dressing up and I studied Law in undergrad. Law and style are both ultimately about understanding people, and that’s why I love them both. Being detail-oriented, which I am, is also valuable and rewarding in both contexts.

Describe your “digital diet”

The biggest chunk of what I consume is global news. I take in my news from as wide a range of sources, and as international a set of sources, as possible. I went to college in the UK, so I keep up with the top outlets there, and I’ve also studied lots of foreign languages (5 of them) and I use news as a way to practice my reading comprehension.

When I’m looking for visual/design inspiration, I actually prefer print over digital. I have Vogue and Architectural Digest subscriptions and I love the experience of looking at beautiful things on glossy paper. Music is also a huge part of my life as a musician myself. A lot of the music I love is from the 70s and 80s, which is definitely something that shows up in my personal style.

Le Labo Another 13 & Diptyque Philosykos. If I can sneak in a third, it would be Margiela’s Whispers in the Library. So sad they discontinued it - it perfectly captures the smell of my college’s libraries, which is what it was inspired by.

What’s your drink of choice?

In the summer, an Aperol Spritz. In the winter, a Negroni. Most of the time, though, I’m drinking matcha.

What is a free beauty tip you live by?

Sleep as much as possible. Master the 20 minute power nap.

What are your favorite shower products? face, cleansers, body wash, scrubs etc.

It’s not glamorous, but I swear by Hibiclens antibacterial soap. Don’t use it all over your body, but used right it’ll save you $$$ on dry cleaning your sweaters and jackets. Other than that, I keep it pretty simple. I use the Manyo Oil cleanser (courtesy of my wonderful Korean future mother-in-law), which is the absolute best at removing makeup.

What’s your favorite appetizer?

Anything with Burrata.

What’s your favorite piece of content you’ve recently consumed?

What’s your favorite song? or song lyrics?

Fleetwood Mac’s Landslide. It’s a song about everything - the passage of time, the way relationships change & how we change with them.

What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received?

One of my professors told me that when she reads my writing, it feels like I’m in the room, talking to her. I really value being a clear and concise communicator, so that compliment has stayed with me.

What are your favorite serums, body lotions etc.?

I love the snail mucin serum from cosrx. I have super dry skin and layering this under my moisturizer leaves my skin still feeling hydrated by morning, which isn’t easy to achieve.

One product you’ll repurchase over and over again?'

La Roche Posay Hydrating Sunscreen. It’s the best sunscreen I’ve found for dry skin and I’ve tried quite a few. I haven’t been able to find it in the U.S., so I stock up whenever I get the chance.

What's your most worn fashion piece?

My newspaper-print button-up from Desigual.

What’s your death row meal?

The entire spread that my family makes for our annual vegetarian Thanksgiving. Every dish puts an Indian twist on a Thanksgiving classic — think masala mac and cheese, cranberry chutney, sweet potato casserole seasoned with cardamom. I spend the whole year craving it. Also, obligatory — the death penalty should be abolished.

What’s in your bag?

Stop decluttering. Getting rid of things prevents you from seeing how your style has changed over time & how it’s stayed the same. Put things in a box under your bed if you’re sick of seeing them in your closet, but don’t be in a hurry to donate/sell.

What’s a perspective you’ve had that has completely changed overtime?

I grew up in California and always thought I’d hate dressing for the cold, since my idea of a warm coat was a denim jacket. Turns out I love getting to layer & my coat collection is one of my favorite parts of my wardrobe.

What was your favorite item of clothing as a child?

As a kid, I owned two pairs of Merrell Mary Janes, one blue and one pink, and I’d wear them mismatched with one of each.

My love for mismatched shoes remains - my favorites are the Camper Twins loafers and the Tory Burch Patos Slingbacks.

What are your favorite lip care products, candles - the things that act as the icing on the cake in your self care and beauty routine.

Nuxe makes the best lip balm on the planet. It’s the one that comes in a little pot. It’s not available very many places in the U.S., but C.O. Bigelow in the West Village does stock it.

What is your favorite dessert or midnight snack?

I almost always prefer savory over sweet, but if I’m craving something sweet it will usually be Haagen Dazs strawberry ice cream.

What’s your favorite thing on your nightstand?

Loop earplugs, which come in very handy on the mornings when my fiancé has to set his alarm for 4:45am.

If you had to curate the guest list for the ultimate “Chic,Conscious Consumer” gathering, who are your three must-invites?

Amal Clooney, London Tipton, Stevie Nicks.

What is a topic you wish someone would ask you about – a quirky interest or something you’re well versed in that you don’t get to talk about enough.

I’m a massive nerd when it comes to legal philosophy. I think it’s fascinating and wish it was a more accessible subject, since it is relevant to all of our lives, and something that everyone has intuitions about, even if they’ve never studied it.

What is the best advice you've ever received?

Don’t be afraid to commit — just make sure you commit to the right things and the right people.

Let’s Digest!

1. Etsy Wooden Turquoise Bracelet

I nearly broke my wrist to wear this! I ordered this IMPECCABLE wooden bangle from Etsy in July, so excited to wear it I tore through the box, only to find the bracelet didn’t fit over my hand let alone wrist. I reluctantly emailed the seller asking to return the itsy-bitsy bangle. Luckily, I took my time to return it and while setting put my outfit for a wedding I figured why not give it a final go. So I lathered my hand from tip to elbow with nearly a whole tub of vaseline and boom I got it on!!! And I’ve been wearing it with nearly every outfit!

It is such a conversation starter and a compliment attracter.

2. Lululemon Glow Up Leggings

   This is one of the few “new” clothing items I've bought this summer. I’ve tried to keep most of my shopping to second hand or vintage but when I saw the short version of these leggings on Tiktok I knew I would love them. They’re quite different from most leggings and are my favorite fit of legging, yet so uncommon.

   They’re a high raise compression legging, that keeps you in without holding you back. The most important feature is the waist band, it doesn't have a seam, which is why I think it works so well. Without the stitching across your hip you don't have to pull the leggings up over and over again to keep the seem in place. Idk about you but when the seam line rides below my waist I instantly feel uncomfortable and as though my leggings are seconds away from sagging or riding below my hips. These fit like a glove and I’d liken them to Bella Hadid for Coperni Spring ‘23, its as though the leggings are spray painted and molded onto your body.They almost look like a scuba diving suit but I promise they're more comfortable than any legging I own— whether is a run or a hot Pilates class these are all I’ve been grabbing.

3. Pinterest

I, much like other “Chic, Conscious Consumers” have loved Pinterest for years. In this new age, ad driven era of social media Pinterest really stands out to me.Making it a better place for passive yet intentional scrolling. I find it to be less about trends or newness but about “youness”. The algorithm on Pinterest is possibly the healthiest of all social platforms because it is sooooo you-focused.

And when there are ads (which is inevitable on any platform) they’re you-focused and more cohesive with your feed.That’s what makes it so powerful—the algorithm feels less manipulative and more mindful, almost like a mirror of your imagination. I think it’s because it’s not just scrolling; it’s intentional inspiration.

4. Moment: The Meet Up w/ Microsoft

We did it Joe!!

Consumer Digest co-hosted our first IRL event in partnership with Microsoft! The event was focused on Consumption (ofc) so we challenged our guests to bring one item they "overconsume" for a gift exchange. The room was quickly filled with books, beauty products, home goods and so much more. When ideating how we carry through the theme of “Digital Diets” we thought it would be fitting make the event "No Phones". We locked everyone’s phone up for like 4 hours. By the end of the night most forgot they even had a phone. The audience was also incredibly important to the theme, so we our Menu was based on the Consumer Digest audience. The food mentioned in The Menu interview series made up an IRL menu! Many of the items were favorites from the attendees and interviewees of The Menu series ie. Taylor's Princess Cake etc.

There is SO much more to talk about from the event, so I’ll likely do another post focused on it!

5. Nails!!!

My nails this month are possibly my favorite of all time and I think I’m going to make them a go to!

6. Casey Rubber Stamps

   For the Meet Up Event we went pretty analog and my amazing co-host Sierra suggested we get some stamps for the thank you cards. We ran over to Casey Rubber Stamps in the East Village and made these… I AM SOO OBSESSED!!

7. The Health App(step tracking)

10 thousand steps a day is a rhetoric I can never get away from. Like who created this arbitrary benchmark? I did a little bit of research and found out but I’ll save that for a Napkin Note post. Anywho, as I’ve been recovering from Hip Surgery and finding forms of movement that I can do consistently upping my daily steps was a top focus this past month. While I’m a bit shy of 10 thousand (which is about 5 miles fyi) I’ve just been focusing on walking more than my daily average and using the health app on my phone to track that.

8. Danessa Myricks Color Fix Sticks

I have been using shade 6 which is a gold toned foil and taupey brown shadow stick and shade 8 which is a lilac silvery foil and black shimmery shadow stick. These are the kind of products that make doing make up fun. There is almost no way to describe how cool the foils on these are, they are exactly what you imagine from a glittery eyeshadow but can never find.

   Im an analog girl at heart. As much as I use tech, I am always going to prefer handwriting lists, taking notes and of course pen and paper.

What is your favorite restaurant?

"Favorite" is hard because there are few things I love more than the experience of fine dining. Would love to share a few? Humor me, please! The best special occasion spot in New York, to me, is The Grill. It's the perfect intersection of classic NYC white tablecloth service and perfectly executed steakhouse favorites in an incredibly sexy atmosphere. Having tried all of their steaks, I can say they are the some best I've ever had of each cut. If I could go here every week, I would. The restaurants I dine with most frequently are Le Charlot and Sant Ambroeus (choosing between locations is picked for each visit depending on my dinner guest and mood). Even if you're not staying for dinner, Ambroeus is the perfect dessert-and-cocktail-only landing spot. The principessa cake cannot be missed, nor the gorgeous and hospitable staff. I would be remiss not to include a longtime favorite from Palm Beach: Buccan. Having celebrated many special occasions here for over a decade, the short rib empanada and sweet corn agnolotti have established themselves as legendary in my family.

I think justice for Miranda Hobbs is in order—on behalf of all intense, obsessive career women globally. While I don't think work should dictate our entire life, I've been blessed with a passion in a creative field, so I think I’ve found more acceptance for my flamboyant ambition. Surrounding myself with hardworking and similarly minded New Yorkers has made it easier to vocalize my big dreams. I moved from Florida to New York five years ago to finish the second half of my marketing degree at a fashion business school, which I’m grateful made a point to center its curriculum on internships. That focus helped kickstart the “experience” portion of my resume a few years early, allowing me to proudly boast about having done PR for some of my favorite brands, like Bottega Veneta and The Row. I feel well represented by my astrological big three and make a point to share them upon meeting new people, despite not knowing much about horoscopes beyond my own (Virgo sun, Taurus moon/rising). I’m hardworking, organized, conscientious, indulgent, and love making decisions. I’ll spare you the less-than-favorable, work-in-progress traits I tend to blame on my chart. Listening to Camille Saint-Saëns' Le Cygne, the Cybophonia remix of Ocean Beach by Black Mighty Orchestra, and Sade's entire discography makes me feel most like myself. A select few pieces in my wardrobe have been so well-loved that they’ve integrated into my sense of self (take this with a grain of salt—I just love clothing and think it’s important to be obsessed with the things we invest in). This includes tabis, The Row, men’s trousers, and a lot of Elsa Peretti. I’m not as well-versed in film and TV (more on that below), but I petitioned my friends for their take on “me as a character” and heard: Lydia Tár (just the good parts), Holly Golightly, Mame Dennis, Julie Andrews' poodle in The Princess Diaries, and Charlotte York in drag. I feel connected to Shirley MacLaine's Charity Hope Valentine from Sweet Charity for her hopeless romanticism. The final scene "And she lived hopefully ever after" rips my heart out. I’m a creature of habit, so most of my weeks look the same. I’m a member of the New York City Ballet and make an effort to go twice weekly when in season. Sundays usually consist of walking down Madison Avenue and ending up at Bergdorfs. Mostly, though, I’m in bed with my two cats in the evening, indulging in the “digital diet” below.

An email notification from Rachel Tashjian Wise for a new edition of Opulent Tips will have me quickly finding a place to sit down and read. There's a dedicated email tag in my inbox to organize and revisit them frequently as an inspirational resource. They’re best read on the train, encouraging me to correct my posture, sit up straighter, and assess whether my clothes are, in fact, as well-tailored and well-loved as they should be. I joke about how few movies I’ve seen and my hesitation to watch something new (I’m working on it!!! See again: Virgo stubbornness and love of routine), so most of my TV screen time consists of Planet Earth and fashion documentaries or rewatching old favorites like SATC, Ghibli, and The Princess Diaries 2. My YouTube watch history is full of AD Open Door, Vogue Beauty Secrets, Moya Mawhinney vlogs, and nearly every deep sea documentary on the platform (x100 over). I watch the latter every night before bed with my equally interested cats

Substack has quickly become a favorite app (find me at Driving Shoes!!!). I'm still figuring out the homepage algorithm, but it's helped me find some very talented and tasteful women. I'm not above clocking in (too much time) on TikTok, I just try to self soothe by telling myself "it's part of my job." I am a Pinterest loyalist, still using the same account from high school, and keep a widget on my iPhone homepage for constant, tailored inspiration. This often results in a new vintage ISO and sends me towards a 15-page deep dive on The RealReal or Vestiaire. Does my kindle count as digital? <3

What is your favorite restaurant?

There’s a small Turkish restaurant right across from my apartment that I really love. I’ve ordered their big takeout platters for hosting, but honestly, I prefer eating in — ideally at the corner table, with a group. The food is unfussy (rice, meat, veggies, bread, dips) and perfectly prepared. I really can’t imagine anyone complaining about having that within walking distance of their front door.

Observant, Expressive, Visual

Describe yourself or what you do using references from movies, characters, TV shows, or songs.

I recently referenced True Jackson, VP and have been looking for more excuses to bring her up. A part of her lifestyle really resonates with my 2025 self — figuring things out, occasionally in over her head, but ultimately excited, capable, and learning a lot. I also can’t help but reference the post-makeover montage of Andy Sachs — starting to understand the stakes, showing up sharper, and still deciding what kind of story she wants to be in.

Describe your “digital diet”

As someone who produces content both for work and personal projects, I probably consume less media than you’d expect. I use the One Sec app to slow down my social media usage — blocking access during certain hours and forcing a delay before I open anything. My go-to platform has always been YouTube. I’ve curated a perfect mix of fashion channels, vlogs, video essays, and podcast subscriptions that I watch while getting ready, listen to while working, or play on walks. I also listen to a fair amount of music throughout the day, though I’ve been trying to get more comfortable with silence — especially as someone who works from home every day. I’m not a big TV or movie person, but I go through phases. Most recently, I watched all six seasons of Silicon Valley on Max in a shockingly short time frame I won’t be publicly disclosing.

Choose your "big three" based on your favorite media, brands or products

Sun= Dare I say… my own newsletter, Wardrobe Thirteen. It’s been experimental since the start. Sometimes more researched and analytical, sometimes purely visual. In a lot of ways, it’s a good foil for who I am: curious, layered, very referential, drawn to a mix of things, and so on.

Moon = My camera roll. Composed of things to read later or add to cart, styling spotted in the wild, hairstyles to try, reminders and to-dos, outfit selfies, pictures of my dinners and my friends. Organized, but a mixed bag. Deeply observant. Always collecting.

Rising = Jacquemus. This is very aspirational but I think I show up in the world as playful but pared-back in equal measure. Cool without being so over the top, interesting without being the loudest in the room (though sometimes I am).

What is a topic you wish someone would ask you about – a quirky interest or something you’re well versed in that you don’t get to talk about enough.

I would love to talk about all the things I'd buy with an unlimited budget. I've been asked once or twice, but I am forever evolving and will always happily walk someone through my decision matrix where shopping and wardrobe curation is concerned. I could also chat all day on the discursive formation of a trend. I wrote my master's thesis on fashion's flirtation with the metaverse/Web3 and considered how language and content played a larger role in making the moment than the actual artifacts and activations did.

What is the best advice you've ever received?

Cliché as it may be, I will always fall back on "trust your gut."

   Not those infamous $700 rubber ones…don’t worry. These are a leather pair that were too big for my mom and, lucky me, found their way into my wardrobe. They’re the perfect shade of brown—“Gold,” if you’re speaking Hermès.

   They go with absolutely everything. The toe is a rounded square, which gives structure without feeling clunky, and the white threaded trim adds just enough dimension to elevate the simplicity.

   It’s no secret that The RealReal and I have a thing. Is it toxic? No. But let’s just say… boundaries are important. I love a little too hard, a little too often. Case in point: this Etro dress I scored at the end of June. I’ve worn it at least once a week since, and every time feels like the first. This relationship is giving fully committed. And I am certainly getting my ROI. Though I might need an intervention.

5. No.47 Queen’s Guard Tea
   OK! Ready for some piping hot tea—literally.

   On July 1st, I stopped by Sagaponack General Store to pick up some birthday gifts for my dad. While browsing, I spotted tea from one of his favorite brands and, naturally, started judging each blend by its name. Queen’s Guard immediately caught my eye. I flipped the bag over: a floral black tea with cornflowers, rose, and lavender. Say less.

   The loose-leaf blend is just as pretty as it sounds—shades of blue, pink, and purple scattered like confetti. It’s giving royal garden party in a cup. And yes, I kept one for myself. Obviously.

6. New Sunscreens!
   I finally made it to Asia this July and naturally, I spent hours in beauty stores, mostly at Poyo. Think of it as Taiwan’s answer to Ulta or Olive Young: beauty lover heaven. I’m talking aisles upon aisles of sunscreen—sticks, sprays, gels, milks, body, face... you name it, they have it.

   The best part? They have testers. No more gambling with mystery textures or risking a Casper-coded white cast. You get to feel it, see it, and know it before you commit.

   

   Out of the endless options, Biore and Skin Aqua stood out to me the most. I ended up picking up three versions—and honestly, I’m already wondering if I should’ve grabbed more.

7. Chocolate Covered Gingers

   To know me is to know I love food—but weirdly, I’m not much of a snacker. I’m more of a “plate, fork, and knife” kind of girl.

Lately though, I’ve slowly been dipping a toe into the snack world and these INSANE chocolate-covered ginger candies are what pulled me in. I first had them as a post-facial treat at a Biologique Recherche spa in New Orleans, and the second I bit into one, I was hooked.

Naturally, I asked the staff for the source immediately. I will be order some for my desk at work!

8. Pastel Rumors
Perfume shopping is non-negotiable when I travel. Scent is time travel in a bottle—and there’s no better way to commemorate a trip than with a fragrance souvenir.

In Taipei, I intentionally stumbled upon Taigrance a perfectly curated perfume boutique showcasing global brands alongside indie Asian gems. Think Arielle Shoshanna, One Day (yes, they had Taipei in stock, of course), and others you won’t find anywhere else. I spent nearly two hours there, smelling everything, discovering new loves, and asking way too many questions.

The standout? Pastel Rumors by Sarah Baker. The brand is known for its trio of peach perfumes—Peach’s Revenge, Rococo Pie, and now, Pastel Rumors. This one? It's peachy with a twist. Think sorbet rather than syrup: sweet but never cloying, bright with a creamy, almost guava-like depth. It’s got a lactonic smoothness that makes it feel both fresh and comforting.

It reminds me a bit of House of Oud’s Keep Glazed, but softer, more wearable in brutal heat. I’ve worn it every day since I got back. With New York just as humid as Taipei, this scent has stretched the memory of my trip into the everyday—making Manhattan feel, if only for a second, like a sweltering street in Taiwan.

9. Favorite Moment!
I want to say Taiwan—because, obviously—but I fear I’ve already talked your ear off about Taipei in this newsletter. (Don’t worry, a dedicated love letter is coming soon.) 10. Vin. Fishy Bag —Summer Bag Alert!

As a bag lover, I’m often asked: What’s your go-to summer bag? The truth? I usually don’t have one. I rotate through my bags year-round—season be damned. But that changed when I discovered Vin. by Claudia Li Johnson on TikTok.

The moment I saw their Fishy Bag, I placed an order. It’s a brass, fish-shaped sculpture of a bag made in India—and it’s summer incarnate. Most of my bags are a little more daytime, not exactly cocktail-ready. But this one? It does it all. I’ve worn it to dinners, parties, errands… basically any excuse I could find. It’s whimsical, sculptural, and strangely functional—a total conversation starter. I Highly recommend if you want to carry a little art on your arm.
